NAMM 2024 WITH SHE-Q AUDIO

Jan 29, 2024

I had the pleasure of being a part of a Canadian delegation of 12 women music producers and audio engineers to attend the 2024 National Association of Music Merchants show in Anaheim, California. Our cohort consisted of Jinting Zhao (AB), Samantha Selci (ON), Kalli Melenius (AB), Laura Smith aka Daggerss (MB), Same As Me (AB), Jodie B (BC), Dani Lion (BC), Elisa Pangsaeng (BC), Denise De'ion (ON), Kristina Lao (BC), and Chelsa Roberts (AB). The week consisted of a 2-day song camp supported by our generous gear friends at Yamaha Canada, Heil Sound, Focusrite, Novation, Adam Audio, Kali Audio, OMS Canada, and Teenage Engineering. Grammy-nominated vocal producer Simone Torres attended to provide production feedback on our songs. We were also joined by California producer-songwriter Colby Lapolla, and Swedish Mix with the Masters alum Anna van Grimbergen. We were inspired by other incredible women in audio we got to meet throughout this trip including Sylvia Massy, Ann Mincieli and EveAnna Manley. Thank you to Factor Canada and our sustainable battery-making friends at GRST Inc. for sponsoring this project.

LOCALS LOUNGE VANCOUVER'S FIRST EVER SONGWRITERS CIRCLE

Sep 24, 2023

Thanks to the support of Locals Lounge, I got to produce the first ever Songwriters Circle live show at East Vancouver's newest multi-use space, Workshop Film Company. This live show highlighted 4 local songwriters: Michaela Slinger, Daksh Kubba, Kristina Lao and Forrest Mortifee. In addition to live performances, we got special insight into the art of songwriting. My goal was to shine a light into the mysterious and underappreciated life of a songwriter. Songwriters are at the centre of the music ecosystem, and with the current ambiguous political state involving Bill C-11, streaming royalties, TikTok, and all the craziness, job stability as a songwriter is...well... non existent. it is now more important than ever that we advocate for songwriters.

FIRST SATURDAY EVENING SERENADE LIVE SHOW FEAT. AMANDA NA AT PLEASANT MOUNTAIN MUSIC

July 16, 2022

I presented and performed my first ever live acoustic show at Pleasant Mountain Music in Vancouver, featuring the very talented singer-songwriter, Amanda Na.

The night was filled with cozy acoustic vibes, good friends, music fans, original music from Amanda Na, and covers (mostly from the 2000's of course). Showcasing underrepresented artists is a passion of mine, and being able to explore the live music sector while supporting local women-owned businesses is an integral part of building a more diverse and inclusive music infrastructure in Vancouver. My favourite part about the Saturday Evening Serenade series is that it provides an intimate experience for performers and audiences in a safe space, with minimal barrier between artist-audience connection. I plan to continue this concert series, so make sure to stay tuned for upcoming shows!
